EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40

The Regulation establishes requirements for producers (including manufacturers, distributors, and sellers) to:

• Limit the presence of hazardous substances, including heavy metals, in packaging materials.
• Ensure packaging is designed to be recyclable and to minimize environmental impact throughout its lifecycle.
• Support the reduction of packaging waste and promote reuse, where applicable.
• Fulfill applicable registration and reporting obligations within each relevant EU member state.
• Participate in authorized compliance schemes for the collection, recovery, and recycling of packaging materials, as required.
